Turpin Robotics was started in 2015 as a way to give 4H students at Turpin a way to learn about Robotics. We compete in FIRST leagues (find out more at firstinpires.org) in the FIRST Tech Challenge for High School students, FIRST LEGO League Challenge for grades 4-8, and the First Lego League Explore for grades 1-3. The teams meet weekly during the school to work on the current game, problem and to learn about robots and programming. To be on one of the teams, any student in the Turpin area is eligible if they join 4H and attend at least half of the community meetings.
The team is also working to raise money to increase STEM learning opportunities for all students at Turpin Schools. LEGO kits are now available for check out for upper elementary students in the class room to help students and teachers, Robotics is taught in Second Grade classrooms, and FIRST LEGO League Discover curriculum is taught in the Kindergarten. PreK students are supplied with LEGO STEAM Park Kits for access as well. These programs are meant to allow all students at Turpin Public Schools to learn more about the exciting fields of engineering and robotics through these and other opportunities. Stay tuned for more information as we continue to grow.
